RE: GM's plan presented

Let reduce the top executives and the union and keep the employees employed.
How long will the Chief executive officer Rick Wagoner work for a dollar a year ?.
How long will the top executives take major pay cuts for ?.

RE: Hats off to the Big 3

So are you telling us to buy from the big 3 :S because of there donations even though they fall short in building a quality, reliable and safe automobile based on consumer report.
So we should all be buying American cars and dump more money in the maintenance and repairs to keep them on the road and the Big 3 will donate to America and then call on us to bail them out of there financial problems, I must be missing something ? :? :?
My German owned auto seems to surpass any auto the big 3 have to offer. :)

RE: Switching to Open Office

I am not familiar with Avanquest. but, most application do allow you to export data. If you can export the data to a format such as Comma Separated Value then you should be OK. Once exported you can then import it into Open Office and be set to go.

RE: Master Lock Cable Lock

Thanks everyone for the quick response, this will at least deter any sticky fingers. We don't intend to leave it out in view when we are not using it, just want it secured when we use it and will be nearby.

Master Lock Cable Lock

I am looking at the 5 ft. Master Lock braided steel cable lock which comes with a 5 pin cylinder keylock to secure my portable generator to the RV. Has anyone used these and just how good are they for security purposes.

RE: Is there any maintenance to be done on the door?

I had this same problem with our previous RV and this is what I found to be the problem. Four wooden internal door frame corner braces loose fitted.
The way to repair it is;
Remove the door and lay it on a few sawhorses.
Take it completely apart.
Replace the 4 wooded corner braces with metal braces.
Align the door.
Rehang the door.
This hopefully will correct the problem as it did ours. You should not have any further problems.

RE: How do I read this thing?

Assuming it is a Digital multimeters, the following links may be of help;
Electrical Theory
All about circuits
Using a digital multimeter
First and foremost before using a Multimeter get a though understanding of electric theory as it is not a toy to be used by someone without electrical knowledge.

RE: FileMaker Pro data base users

Are there any FileMaker Pro database users here? I have a question regarding Auto-Enter of field data, would appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks!
Give us a little more information (FM version, What your are trying to accomplish, etc.).
I am in no way an expert but I do use it and have built auto entry fields. If you prefer you an PM me and I will get back with you.

RE: Portable Generator

Anythings possible. The compartment space measurements are key to the size of the portable unit you want to install. The most critical item to consider is exhaust fumes.

RE: Frig won't light; need advice soon

Additional information would be helpful. not knowing the manufacture and model of the unit it is rather difficult as to what specific areas to check, but, you may want to check for any spider webs in and around the pilot light.

RE: New truck got hit

I had a scratch between the door and front fender about 2" long when my truck was a week old parked in the rear of a home depot parking lot.
It looks like Home Depot is the place these sleezy lowlifes seem to believe that no one is entitled to a new vehicle without any dents or scratches. Earlier this year I stopped in the local Home Depot to pick up a few items and like you I parked our new vehicle far away as to not be near any vehicles, we'll low and behold when I came out from the store the right rear tailight was broken and the bumper was hit with the paint was chipped off the bumper. Checked estimates on having it repaired and the least expensive was $250.00 which because of our deductible it would not be to our benefit to report it to the insurance company.
I would not want to think what I would do to the individual driving off after damaging someones property and believe they can get away with it, someday they will get their reward. :B :B :B
I strongly recommend that everyone watch for incidents like this and if nothing else get the license number, make, model and color of the vehicle and post a note on the windshield of the damaged vehicle, this will assist the victim with information to pursue the incident.

RE: MICROSOFT STREETS & TRIPS 2008

I received the fix from Microsoft for the problem and it corrected it, should anyone need the file and instructions please drop me a PM. :)
Just keep in mind this fix is for Microsoft S&T 2008 running on WinXP professional.
It sure is nice when a plan comes together in a timely fashion in this day and age. :B

RE: MICROSOFT STREETS & TRIPS 2008

Michelle,
I followed your link and downloaded the file but when I went to the folder it said to put it in the file was already there with the same name (ConstructionA7031618). I proceeded to replace it with the file just downloaded and when I check S&T for construction updates the same message appears so it seems that Microsoft has failed us once again. I run Win XP Professional and S&T 2008.
I'm open to any other recommendations being that this did not work.

RE: Avoid Sears

We gave up Sears approximately 15 years ago when their appliance's turned to crap. There are way to many stores that carry quality merchandise and stand behind it so why would anyone want to waste there time shopping Sears or there lower retailer K-mart.
I would estimate that by looking at there stock they won't last much longer, it's too bad to see these old icon stores failing all because what we called outsourcing to cut cost but get inferior quality. Just remember we pay hard earned money and we should expect a quality product, not the junk that is being forced upon us.

RE: best email and why

Been using Thunderbird for quite some time (Don't know for exactly how long but guessing I would say at least 2+ years). I highly recommend it. Current version is 2.0.0.17
To answer your questions:
is it easy to convert.
Yes, once Thunderbird is installed build your email profile and your set to go.
If you use Thunderbird are you happy with it.
Very Satisfied (No junk mail like Outlook).
does it take a major conversion to change address books, etc.
No, Once you have Thunderbird installed just select IMPORT under the TOOLS dropdown menu.
Or is there a better email service.
I do use Google for miscellaneous but I find it very slow loading at times and I do occasionally get spam email from where I don't know, never received span using Thunderbird.
Also have used YAHOO & HOTMAIL but once again they are slow loading at times.

RE: Installing Vista over XP?

If it were me I would stay with XP and fix the problem with Framework. If you do a search on reliability of XP and Vista you will see that Vista has numerous issues that XP does not.
